Browse public source previews, explicitly unfinished source handoffs and description-only ideas alongside the unchanged starter. Check each entry's exact version, available files, known issues and next useful step. A catalogue listing is not a finished or verified product. All entries are unranked, and no tool runs automatically on this page.

Source previews are not finished products. Check the setup, limits, tests and next steps for each version. Publication does not establish production readiness.

Too much to do? Start with one thing.

One Thing Now is a set of instructions you can copy into an AI chat you already use. It asks your AI to turn an everyday task into a short list of small steps and pick one to start with.

Early version — check its suggestions.

Give it a try

1. Open the included portable_prompt.md and copy its instructions into your chosen AI chat. 2. Add a simple task without names, passwords or other private information. For example:

{ "job": "Tidy my desk so I have space to write", "context": "Fictional example: loose paper and stationery on a small desk", "time_budget_minutes": 10, "granularity": "tiny", "privacy_class": "NONSENSITIVE_ONLY", "no_external_actions": true }

3. Ask the AI to follow those instructions. The requested result is a structured list of 3–9 steps, one suggested starting step, a finish line and any unknowns. Check the plan and decide what to do yourself.

Nothing is installed. These instructions do not connect your accounts, create tasks or carry out the plan. Your chosen AI service's own availability, charges and privacy terms still apply. An AI may not follow the requested format correctly.

About, sources and credit

Free to use and adapt under the included MIT licence for WIT-owned material; keep its copyright and permission notice. Third-party services and linked material are not included in that grant.

This WIT recipe reuses the existing One Thing Now / Focus Guard concept. Goblin Tools was a source of task-breakdown inspiration, discovered through the digital-goblin website index and its linked @setupspawn video. We are not affiliated with those sources. See SOURCES_AND_CREDITS.md for exact links and LICENSE_SCOPE.md for the origin record and exclusions.

This is a prompt recipe, not an installed feature or a tested integration with a particular AI. Its output-format checker was tested locally on fictional examples; those tests do not establish that an AI's suggestions are correct, safe or private. No actual ChatGPT/Gemini host trial is claimed.

WIT stays free. Optional one-time contributions support hosting and development. Choose your amount in CAD (minimum $1); no paid access or subscription.

Recommended general-purpose upgrades — start small

Recommended WIT workflows: Mission Control for clear next actions; Evidence Vault for source-backed claims; Continuity Scanner and handoff for corrections and verified saves; Holodeck to preview consequences; Permission Ledger for read, change and sharing boundaries. These are documented practices, not installed plugins or guarantees about your AI host.

Optional: Oracle for decisions, Red Team for challenging plans, Replicator for consistent drafts, and Combo-Breaker to remove duplicate work, not safeguards.

Experimental source tools: choose by task, read the exact version, limits and untested cases, and try fictional inputs first. Publication is not proof of browser reliability. Privacy review is not automatic redaction.

Available source tools · individually versioned

Documented Compensation Comparison | wit.documented-compensation-comparison@0.1.2

Description: Evaluate documented-input hourly cash scenarios, explicit overtime evidence, commute costs and dues. Complete scenarios are not verified offers.

Requirements: Python 3.9+ standard library. Unzip; run python3 tool.py --input example.json.

Limits: CAD/hourly only; no salary, tax, noncash benefits or automatic evidence checks. CLI: 8 MiB UTF-8, 10,000 offers, 64 nesting levels; 1,024-character names/source refs. Duplicate JSON keys rejected. Limits are not a device-capacity guarantee.

Verification: 34 functional/boundary and 5 CLI retry checks passed. Explicit oversize/deep-input rejection, stable retries and unchanged inputs tested. ZIP bytes/member hashes verified. No independent security/production-capacity claim.

Next step: Add an explicitly separate annual-salary input type without guessing benefits or entitlements.

MIT license applies to this tool version directory only. No private originals or unrelated repository content are licensed by it.

Invoice Reference Review | wit.invoice-reference-review@0.1.2

Description: Compare invoice references and payment rows, surfacing ambiguous, missing, duplicate, partial and orphan candidates. No accounting writes.

Requirements: Modern browser; optional Node.js 18+ for tests. Unzip and open tool.html locally. Invoice CSV requires invoice_id,amount with real known positive amounts. References alone do not fit. With no payment rows, paste the header invoice_id,amount,payment_id rather than blank text.

Limits: Strict quoted CSV; positive single-currency amounts; no refunds/credits/FX or authenticated matching. Maximum 1 MiB UTF-8 and 10,000 data rows per CSV. Version 0.1.1 had malformed-quote/byte-cap defects; do not rely on its matching output.

Verification: 15 original plus 15 bundled stress checks passed. Strict quotes and actual UTF-8 byte cap repaired. Public ZIP bytes and all member hashes independently read back. Standalone browser/device acceptance remains unverified; no outsider adoption claimed.

Next step: Add separately tested credits/refunds without treating candidates as verified postings.

MIT license applies to this tool version directory only. No private originals or unrelated repository content are licensed by it.

Pretax Role Comparison | wit.pretax-role-comparison@0.1.2

Description: Compare two hourly or salary cash scenarios and commute costs without treating unknown terms as zero. Before tax only.

Requirements: Modern browser; optional Node.js 18+ for tests. Unzip and open tool.html locally.

Limits: CAD-labelled planning only; no tax, pension, benefits, verified offers or employment advice. Non-finite scenario values or comparison differences return UNKNOWN. Paid and commute weeks share an input.

Verification: 12 engine and 4 actual-handler stub checks passed, including explicit overflow errors and invalid-to-valid retries. ZIP bytes/member hashes verified. No rendered browser/device or outsider-adoption claim.

Next step: Separate paid weeks from commute weeks with backward-compatible tests.

MIT license applies to this tool version directory only. No private originals or unrelated repository content are licensed by it.

Tool continuation board · unranked

Eligible public source packages may be picked up under their scoped MIT licenses. The current contribution policy lists the exact tool IDs open for review; description-only ideas and private candidates are not automatically eligible. These are not quality rankings or claims of community adoption. Each source README records checks, untested cases, limitations and a next useful step.

Submit source and synthetic fixtures only. Review privacy, licenses and unsafe behavior before isolated manual tests, then reviewed merge, a new version, catalogue update and attribution. No automatic execution, auto-merge or response-time guarantee. General framework/security-sensitive intake and voting remain closed.
